Project Objective
To provide the company with its own solar power generation and backup power for production equipment during electricity outages.
Solution
The system comprises a 52 kW rooftop solar power plant, two 125 kW KSTAR hybrid inverter units and two outdoor 240 kWh energy storage cabinets with liquid cooling.
The energy storage system has a total power rating of 250 kW and a capacity of 480 kWh.
Key Project Priorities
Load Analysis
Before design work began, the 0.4 kV grid parameters and production equipment’s starting currents were measured using a Metrel MI 2892 Class A analyser.
System Configuration Tailored to Production Loads
The inverter and energy storage power ratings were selected based on the facility’s actual operating and startup loads.
Backup Power
The system provides backup power for machinery used to manufacture gas turbine equipment. At a load of 100 kW, the estimated backup duration is up to 4.8 hours.
Results
A hybrid system with 52 kW of solar generation capacity and a 250 kW / 480 kWh energy storage system was installed at the facility, providing backup power for a 100 kW production load for up to 4.8 hours.
