140 kW Grid-Tied Solar Power Plant for the Ternopil Hotel
A 140 kW rooftop grid-tied solar power plant was installed to cover the Ternopil Hotel’s own electricity consumption.
Alteco provided modelling, design, equipment supply, installation, commissioning and maintenance. The plant configuration and mounting system were selected based on the facility’s load profile and an assessment of the roof’s load-bearing capacity.
Key Specifications
Solar Plant Capacity
140 kWp
Location
Ternopil, 14 Zamkova Street
Alteco’s Role
Design, equipment supply, installation, commissioning and maintenance
Project Status
Completed in summer 2025
Project Objective
To install a rooftop solar power plant that would generate electricity for the hotel’s own needs and reduce electricity purchases from the grid.
Solution
A grid-tied rooftop solar power plant comprising 225 JA Solar 620 W modules and two 60 kW Deye inverters was installed at the property. The system was configured to match the hotel’s load profile and operate for self-consumption.
Alteco provided modelling, design, equipment supply, installation, commissioning and maintenance. The plant operates without backup power functionality.
Roof Load Assessment and Mounting System
Before installation, the roof’s load-bearing capacity was assessed. Based on the results, a ballast mounting system for the PV modules was proposed and calculated for wind and snow loads.
Self-Consumption Operation
The plant operates in grid-tied mode and generates electricity for the hotel’s internal needs. Backup power for the property was not included in this solution.
Results
The plant generates 120,740 kWh per year. Solar generation covers 50% of the facility’s electricity consumption. The project was completed in summer 2025.
System Upgrade in 2025
Over time, the client needed to add battery storage. Alteco integrated the batteries with the hybrid and grid-tied inverters into a single system using grid-frequency control. The project’s payback period was under three years.
