621 kW Solar Power Plant for the Blockbuster Shopping and Entertainment Centre
A 621 kW rooftop solar power plant was installed for the Blockbuster shopping and entertainment centre in Kyiv. Its main purpose is to generate electricity for the facility’s own consumption and reduce electricity purchases from the grid.
Alteco delivered the project under an EPC model — from modelling and design to equipment supply, installation, commissioning and ongoing maintenance.

Project Objective
To install a rooftop solar power plant that would meet part of the shopping and entertainment centre’s electricity demand and reduce its reliance on grid electricity.
Surplus electricity can be sold under a direct agreement.
Solution
A 621 kW solar power plant was installed on the centre’s flat roof, using 1,026 Canadian Solar TOPHiKu6 Glass-Glass Silver Frame N-type CS6.1-72TD-605 modules rated at 605 W each.
Five Huawei SUN2000-100KTL-M2 (AFCI) grid-tied inverters, each rated at 100 kW, convert the electricity generated. The system uses a ballasted mounting structure that requires no penetrations through the roof.
The Facility’s Electrical Infrastructure
The facility has five incoming circuit breakers. The inverter configuration was designed around this arrangement, with a separate 100 kW Huawei inverter installed for each incoming supply.
This approach allowed the solar power plant to be integrated directly into the shopping centre’s existing electrical system.
Ballasted Rooftop Mounting System
A ballasted mounting system was used to support the PV modules on the flat roof.
This allowed the solar array to be installed on the shopping centre’s roof without mechanical fixings penetrating the roof structure.
Self-Consumption and Surplus Electricity Sales
Most of the solar electricity generated is used to meet the shopping and entertainment centre’s own needs.
When generation exceeds the facility’s current demand, surplus electricity can be sold under a direct agreement.
Results
The solar power plant generates 549,100 kWh per year.
Solar generation covers approximately 15% of the facility’s annual electricity consumption, which totals 4,155,229 kWh per year.
The solar power plant enables the shopping centre to use its own solar electricity for day-to-day operations and sell any surplus electricity generated.
